Little Common Country Fayre

Saturday July 16th
The Country Fayre went ahead despite the weather. We set up as much as possible in the church hall then just as the fayre opened at 4.00 it stopped raining so we quickly set up a few games outside.

The pupils of Little Common Primary School gave their Country Dancing display in the hall but the Cooden Beach Wind Orchestra were able to play outside.

Thank you to everyone who came to support us.

Donation to Little Common Primary School

Little Common Business Association have donated a cheque for £100.00 to Little Common Primary School. The school is currently fundraising for a new outdoor play area.

Bexhill in Bloom

The village was judged on July 12th for Bexhill in Bloom and South East in bloom. Pictured are Chairman David Dixson with two judges and Betty Walters wife of Keith Walters who generously gives up his time to keep the flowers watered.

New Business's in Little Common

Monday July 4th

Home and Castle Estate Agents opened at 4 Bixlea Parade. Directors Sue Hammond and Hossein Refahi opened their first office in Polegate in March and have followed this with a branch in Little Common.

Sadly on the same day a Closing Down sale started in Carmelina. Owner Marina Betts has run the shop for 16 years but has decided not to renew the lease. She also works in the family butchers and will continue there on a part time basis. Carmelina will remain open until the end of August when the lease ends so visit soon to grab a bargain.

On Friday June 24th DarnKnits opened in 10 Village Mews. This is run by local resident Lynn Adair and will be open Monday to Saturday 9am - 5.30pm for all your knitting, crochet and sewing needs. Lynn has always enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts and is keen to make links with local craft groups and advertise their events on the shop notice board. There is parking available in the mews so visit soon to see what they have to offer.

The Wheatsheaf has recently changed ownership. New owners Andy Franks and his wife Helen live locally and intend to keep the daytime format of the restaurant while also adding a new evening menu.

They have kept the same staff but have also taken on two new chefs as the previous owner did this himself. They are planning to make the area by the bar into a lounge area so customers can relax with a drink either before or after a meal. The restaurant has become a popular venue for a good reasonably priced meal with both local people and coach parties over the last few years. With evening opening hours and a different menu Andy hopes to extend his clientelle.

Friday May 27th

The hanging baskets have been put up around the village today. Dave Apps and Keith Walter collected them in the morning and Keith then put them up with the help of Chairman David Dixson in the afternoon.

Last week the new wooden tubs arrived and were put around the village. Six of these were paid for by the Little Common Business Association. The 7th one was paid for by Ditsy's and MC Glass. They also paid for the plants in all the new tubs.

A member of the Cooperative store has taken on the upkeep of the three flower beds outside the store. One of the trees in these beds fell down a few weeks ago and has been removed. Hopefully it can be replaced soon.

A big thank you to everyone who is helping to keep Little Common an attractive village to live and shop in.
