Can Little Common’s biggest Summer Fayre get any better? Well yes it can because although we have kept all of your most favourite attractions, we have added even more games and stalls this year! So ….. more to see, more chances to win, more things to buy and loads more fun and enjoyment for all the family.
The Little Common & Cooden Business Association’s Summer Fayre will be held on Saturday 11th July in the grounds of The Wheatsheaf just off the roundabout at Little Common from 3pm to 5pm (gates will be open from 2.30pm) so make sure you have that date firmly in your diary. The sun came out for us last year and we are keeping our fingers crossed for another sunny day but we will go ahead whatever the weather – we have even more marquees to provide shade as well as shelter just in case the weather lets us down.
A family favourite, Charlie the Clown, will be there to meet and greet you and will keep children and adults entertained during the afternoon. Try your luck at some of our new games such as children’s archery, disk drop, spin the wheel or with favourites such as tombola, hoopla, human fruit machine, bowling for a pig, splat the rat, coconut shy and much, much more! Back due to public demand is our Lucky Numbers Prize Draw which proved very popular at Christmas – tickets cost just £1 each and you can win £200 to spend locally with some of fabulous independent businesses who are members of the Association. These will all be listed in the leaflet you will receive on entry to the fayre. We have also added runner up prizes of £30 and £20 so more chance to win. These will be on sale at several shops in the village (Betts & Loyd, Cream, DarnKnits, Espresso Max, Little Common Newsagents, Touch of Glamour, The Record Shop, Two Trees, Wheatsheaf) but if you do not get a chance to buy them beforehand, they will also be on sale at the Fayre.
Local crafters, organisations and traders will also be at the Fayre selling a wide range of goods or demonstrating their skills: crafts, jewellery, cards, books, plants and planters, flower arrangements and various home made goods. You can have a go on the bouncy castle (only if you are under 10 years of age though – sorry Mums and Dads). You can even have your fortune told and why not have a massage to ease those tired muscles! We have live entertainment all afternoon showcasing several local bands and The Wheatsheaf is carrying carry on the music into the evening and on Sunday as part of their Beer Festival Weekend. A range of refreshments will be served during the fayre – why not try our new Hog Roast and BBQ, settle down indoors with a cream tea, or if the weather is warm cool down with an ice cream or cold beer.
As you can see we have tried to cater for all tastes and all ages but we do rely on your continued support. During the year, the Business Association works hard to promote the great range of independent shops and businesses in our village as well as making the village as attractive and welcoming as possible. We raise funds at our Summer Fayre which provide the beautiful floral displays in the village as well as the Christmas tree, lights and other activities in the festive season. We hope to maintain the very special place where we all live and work but this can only be done with your help so do come along for a fun packed afternoon and support your local village.
